JSTOR Research Database

Dexter Southfield provides access to the JSTOR Research Database.

JSTOR offers the following collections:

  • Arts and Sciences I-XV
  • Life Sciences
  • 19th Century British Pamphlets
  • Ecology and Botany II
  • Business IV

Additionally, Dexter Southfield offers JSTOR Global Plants and African Cultural Heritage Sites and Landscapes, plus Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa on Aluka.org.

While on campus, Dexter Southfield access to these resources is via IP Authentication, so no username or password requirements are necessary.

JSTOR and Aluka can be accessed remotely with specific Dexter Southfield access codes. These can be provided by your teacher or the Director of Academic Technology.

You do not need a MyJSTOR account to access the full content of the site but if you would like to create a MyJSTOR account, follow these steps:

  • Find the Login link next to the JSTOR logo in the upper right corner of the home page. Click the link and you will be directed to the Login with a MyJSTOR Account page.
  • Complete the required fields to register a unique username and password. A unique email address is required, but the email address may be of any type (school email, Gmail, Hotmail, etc.).
  • Click Submit to register your account. You will be redirected to the new JSTOR main page, where you may use JSTOR as usual.
  • If a user already has a MyJSTOR account, click Login to MyJSTOR under Already have a MyJSTOR account? to activate access for their existing MyJSTOR account.

For subsequent access, users may go directly to www.jstor.org and select "Login" at the top of the page to enter JSTOR with their username and password. They may access JSTOR via this account from any location. Note that each user must register their own MyJSTOR account using the Dexter Southfield registration process to remotely access full-text content on JSTOR.
