Technology Program

Technology is integrated in all classes as part of the daily academic program. Dexter Southfield remains on the cutting edge of technology, and continued improvements enable us to keep up with new standards.

Each year we have more options for devices, access to programs, and access to Internet resources. Technology users who are personally connected to their device tend to use them with greater ease. This is a main reason why we continue to include students and families in device decisions.

Students in Classes 4–8 are required to have a Microsoft Surface Pro computer. We have partnered with the Microsoft Store in Natick to make this an easy process. Click here for Microsoft purchasing information. We require all students to have a keyboard, case, and an accidental damage plan. Students are required to arrive at school with a fully charged and working system.

Students in Classes 9-12 have more flexibility with their purchase. Our recommended system is the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 (click here for more information), although it is acceptable for a student to use another PC or Mac computer. Please note that engineering classes require access to a Windows computer. All family-owned computers must be able to connect to a HDMI projector; the School does not provide the dongle. Click here to review the supported options.

Dexter Southfield School provides the Office 365 Professional software for up to five personal devices for each student and access to 1TB of storage on OneDrive for Business. Since Microsoft Office will work on PC, Mac, iPad, and Android, students can access their documents in their OneDrive folder on multiple devices.
