Kindergarten - Class 2 Physical Education


The goal of the Kindergarten program is to develop fundamental gross and fine motor skills using a variety of age-appropriate games and activities. The value of sportsmanship, effort, and participation are emphasized. The program creates an enjoyable learning environment which is characterized by enthusiasm for a variety of activities. The weekly schedule is structured: 

Once per week: 

  • Athletic skill development in the gym
  • Swimming instruction in the Lincoln pool


Classes 1 and 2

Each class meets daily for a 50-minute sports period. The program is characterized by a combination of individual and team activities. The goal of the program is to build skills and confidence to ensure that each child considers himself or herself to be a competent athlete. Each student is also prepared to participate in nine different sports that are introduced in the intramural program in Class 3. Among the sports and activities offered are Individual Activities and Team Sport Skills. Please see dropdowns below for more information on each.

Individual Activities

  • Swimming once per week
  • Skating (January – March): Once per week in Class 1; Twice per week in Class 2.
  • Tennis and Aerobic activities

Team Sport Skills

  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
