"Our Best Today, Better Tomorrow"

Integrated Education that Evolves as Students Grow

Our program provides a broad academic and ethical foundation through experiences inside and outside the classroom, and it teaches critical thinking, teamwork, and innovation. There is a deliberate progression through all three grade divisions — lower (Pre-K-Class 5), middle (Classes 6-8), and upper (Classes 9-12) — from the building blocks of understanding information, recognizing patterns, and applying expertise, to increasingly sophisticated analyzing, evaluating, and inventing.

Lower School

When they join Dexter Southfield, lower school students are welcomed into a nurturing community that sees the best in each child. As children move through this time of amazing growth, they learn by doing — they explore, play, ask questions, participate, work in teams, build strong habits, and make connections. More

Middle School

Dexter Southfield’s middle school program is characterized by a joyful sense of community, collaboration, and care. Our faculty are passionate about educating girls and boys as they not only help students prepare for the transition to the upper school, but also for the opportunities to build character and confidence, and to be of service to others. Upper School

While learning across all major disciplines, upper school students move from a grounding in facts, to mastering logical organization, to drawing their own conclusions and expressing themselves powerfully. In this way, students make connections, see things from different perspectives, and achieve new goals.  More
