Middle School Student

As a new Dexter student, I am really happy with how much I have been able to do here. In one day, I can go from skating with my hockey teammates to learning about genetics in science. I took Art and STEM for the first time, and I loved learning how to use the 3D printer. I can't wait for my next project!

Ms. Urencio

Lower School Spanish

There’s an incredible sense of community here. We’re not just shaping minds; we’re nurturing hearts and building a legacy of kindness.

Lower School Student

I really love learning how things work, especially in the Innovation Lab. In STEM, I am building my own animation of a football player catching a ball. I have to think about every tiny movement. It is really hard, but that is what makes it fun.

Eli ’32

Middle School Student

At Dexter Southfield, teachers don’t just tell you to be a leader; they show you how to be one. I have learned to strong conversation skills like greeting people correctly, giving a firm handshake, and having good eye contact.

As a student-athlete, I can live out my personal best on the field and in the classroom knowing that my peers, teammates, coaches, and teachers are here to cheer me on.

Ms. Kent

Upper School Learning Specialist

When students walk through my door, there is an unspoken exchange—I believe in you.  That belief builds trust, and trust opens the door to learning and growth.

Mr. Newton

Library Resource Specialist

I often say I have the best office in the School. The Vincent Family Reading & Learning Center is a place where students can find joy in books. We’re fostering a love of reading that lasts a lifetime.

Alumnus

The School provided me with unique opportunities–having a rigorous course load, learning to tie a tie, developing public speaking skills, and serving as an Admissions Ambassador–that instilled valuable life lessons. The welcoming community made me feel like I belonged, and I developed confidence and compassion.

Patrick '27

Upper School Student-Athlete

The daily interactions with my peers and teachers have helped me grow as a leader. Learning from each other inspires me to give my all in the classroom and on the field. Here, kindness is the standard, and it's easy to want to work hard and be a role model.

John P. Booth, Jr.

Head of Upper School

Our Upper School provides the guideposts for students to develop into compassionate, confident, accomplished young adults. Our rigorous academic program prepares students to discover their best selves.

Jia '32

Middle School Student

I have become more confident in myself and in my work. Even though my math class is hard this year, I'm really proud of my study habits, and I can see it pay off when I get good grades on my tests. My classmates and friends are so kind and make learning fun. I look forward to seeing them at school every day.

Admissions Ambassador & Student-Athlete

Dexter Southfield combines rigorous academics, high-level athletics, and a strong sense of community all into one. While I have a long commute, I fully believe the drive is well worth it.

Orianna ’31

Middle School Student

My favorite part about Middle School is meeting new people. Our rotating schedule allows me to work closely with different classmates and learn from multiple teachers. Our teachers are so nice and care about our success in the classroom.

Mr.Logan

Middle School Faculty & Coach

I believe that by operating within a social contract that treats one another with respect and uses a shared language of mutual affirmation, we create a positive culture and community. An enormous part of my mission as an educator is to help boys and girls become young men and women of character through their thoughts, words, and actions.

Kiernan ’25

Alumnus

Ms. Scherzer

Middle School Art

I love that we have the resources and flexibility here to truly inspire creativity. Whether it’s using a laser cutter or working with clay, students get to explore, make mistakes, and grow.

Isabela '27

Upper School Student-Athlete

Whether it’s in the classroom, on the court, or during school events, people genuinely support each other and want to see one another succeed. I’ve grown by becoming more confident and willing to challenge myself because our community is so supportive.

Gavin '26

Upper School Student

Our community is dynamic and welcoming. Some students have been here for a long time while others are new to the Upper School. It feels like we can easily adapt to change as a community and provide a warm welcome to new students.

Beckett ’23

Alumnus

I am forever grateful for the faculty and fellow students who pushed me to be the best student and person I could possibly be.
