After receiving 28 offers, Offensive lineman Hardy Watts ’25 announced his commitment to play football at University of Wisconsin this summer. Hardy was asked Why Wisconsin? by Rivals.* "It the development piece for my position, just how the [Wisconsin Football] team kind of revolves around offensive linemen," Hardy tells Rivals. Hardy is confident in the relationships that he has already created with the coaching and support staff, especially those in the O-line room at Wisconsin. Hardy had his official signing day on Wednesday, December 4.
When asked about Hardy acquired his talent on the field by Badgerblitz.com, Head Coach Casey Day attributes Hardy’s success to the Dexter Southfield Football Program Culture. "It's innate with Hardy, but at the same time he's the seventh or eighth Division 1 offensive lineman we've had over the last few years," Coach Day told BadgerBlitz.com*. "It sounds corny and cliche, but iron sharpens iron and he's been going against great players and multiple FBS athletes. I like to think that we've built our own culture here and it's something that has become a common trait for all our guys. We play with a nastiness."
Aside from the fierce role on the offensive line, Hardy is known for his character at Dexter Southfield. "Leadership is definitely right in Hardy's wheelhouse. He's a charismatic kid and a very social kid. He's definitely not only going to lead by example, lead with just his actions, he's a guy that's going to lead with both his actions and he's going to speak his mind when he feels like he needs to do that,” shares Coach Day.*
“As a student-athlete, I can live out my personal best on the field and in the classroom knowing that my peers, teammates, coaches, and teachers are here to cheer me on,” says Hardy.
Hardy is the top high school football pick in the state and ranked sixth offensive guard and recently named Evergreen League Lineman of the Year. We are excited to continue to watch Hardy play at Wisconsin. Go Badgers!
