Middle School C-Span StudentCam

With more than 3,200 entries from middle and high school students, we are thrilled to have three groups from Ms. Cornelius’ class win prizes in our first year participating in the C-SPAN's StudentCam documentary competition.

We welcomed an impressive group of guests to recognize our winning students and their understanding of complex issues that affect our communities: Rachel Katz from C-SPAN, a video from Massachusetts Senator Ed Markey, a representative for Senator Jake Auchincloss, and Charles Carey, Brookline Town Administrator.

StudentCam is C-SPAN's annual national video documentary competition that encourages students to think critically about issues that affect our communities and our nation. 2024 marked the 20th anniversary of the competition and we invited middle and high school students to create a short documentary addressing the theme, "Looking Forward while Considering the Past."

Congratulations to our winners:

Second Prize: Troy, Andrew, and Nicky

"Protecting Dissent: Protesting, Book Banning, and the Battle for Free Speech"
