Lower School: Building a Strong Foundation

Join our faculty and administrators to explore how Dexter Southfield’s PreK and Kindergarten programs cultivate the skills, habits, and confidence that prepare students for a lifetime of learning. Through a thoughtfully balanced experience that includes academics, STEM, art, movement, language, and play, our youngest learners develop independence, curiosity, and a sense of belonging within a warm and supportive community. Join our Lower School faculty to discover how Dexter Southfield helps students develop the skills, confidence, and curiosity that lead to a lifelong love of reading. Middle & Upper School Athletics and Co-Curricular Night

Some of the most meaningful learning happens after the final bell rings. Join us for an evening showcasing the athletic, artistic, leadership, and co-curricular opportunities that help Dexter Southfield students discover who they are and who they can become. Hear from student-athletes and coaches during our athletics panel, enjoy performances by our talented theatre and music students, and meet the leaders behind the clubs, teams, and activities that make our community so dynamic. Lower School: The Power of Critical Thinking in the Age of AI

The future belongs to those who can think critically, solve problems creatively, and ask thoughtful questions. Join Michelle Bernstein and Barbara Mikolajczak for a conversation about how Dexter Southfield prepares students to thrive in a rapidly changing world shaped by emerging technologies and artificial intelligence. Discover how our students learn to analyze information, evaluate evidence, collaborate with others, and engage with AI as a tool for learning rather than a substitute for thinking. Learn how we are developing the habits of mind, intellectual curiosity, and sound judgment that will serve students well long after the technology itself has evolved.

Lower School: The Power of Play and Public Speaking
Friday, January 15 | 9:00–10:00 a.m.
At Dexter Southfield, some of the most important learning happens when students are encouraged to explore, create, and find their voice. Join our faculty to discover how play and public speaking work together to develop confidence, communication skills, creativity, and resilience in our youngest learners. From imaginative classroom experiences to our cherished public speaking tradition, students are challenged to take risks, embrace mistakes, and grow through practice in a supportive environment. Learn how we help children develop the courage to share their ideas, connect with others, and become confident communicators both inside and outside the classroom.
