Arts Philosophy
Visual and performing arts empowers students to express themselves creatively and to develop an appreciation of aesthetics and culture.
Our Arts programs provides students with skills to understand, interpret, and connect with the world through art. Faculty teach flexibility and persistence to help students hone their craft and tap into their creative potential. Individual growth and development are emphasized as students are evaluated on their mastery of material and engagement with the creative process. In addition, students are engaged audience members and thoughtful gallery observers, appreciating the tremendous work and courage that go into presenting one's work. As a result of their participation in the arts, our students become empathetic, articulate, and curious communicators.
In all three Divisions, students participate in the visual and performing arts through curriculum-based opportunities. Students may pursue additional interests through our many extracurricular offerings, including theater productions, afterschool lessons, and our relationship with the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.
