Our team takes pride in its dedication, determination, and competitiveness. The vast majority of our oarsmen have never taken a stroke before they join the team. Many are looking to build fitness for cross country, swimming, hockey, or football. While they are drawn to rowing by the challenge and fellowship of making fast boats, many have gone on to row in highly competitive college programs.
Our training is structured to build endurance, strength, technique, and toughness. The team rows coxed fours out of its own boathouse on the upper Charles River in Dedham. We also incorporate time on the rowing machine and in the weight room to build fitness and power.
We compete against schools in the New England Interscholastic Rowing Association each Saturday in the spring. In 2016 and 2017, the boys’ first boat won the petite final at the NEIRA Championships, and we strive to send all four varsity boats to the regatta every season.
