Health and Wellness
Dexter Southfield acknowledges a strong link between a healthy child and an active learner. We are committed to supporting each child’s physical, social, and emotional well-being as much as academic success. The health and wellness curriculum in each Division supports age appropriate milestones and challenges.
School Counseling
To foster the emotional health and well-being of the School community, School Counselors are available to children in PreK through Class 12. Counselors are valuable resources for children, families, and faculty, and they work together with homeroom teachers, advisors, deans, nurses, and academic support staff to facilitate integrated plans for children who may need additional support. In addition, they can facilitate a referral to outside resources when the need arises.
School Nurses
Dexter Southfield employs three full-time nurses who assess and treat ill and injured children, administer medications and other physician-ordered treatments, assist children with chronic disease management, and ensure that all health interventions performed for the benefit of children are conducted within current Massachusetts state laws and Department of Public Health regulations.
Athletic Trainers
Dexter Southfield’s athletic trainers are responsible for providing health care services designed to prevent injury and maintain the athlete’s ability to compete at the highest level. They work in collaboration with the School’s strength and conditioning coaches. For more information, learn about our Athletic Training program.
