During my more than 35 years as a member of this community, I have had the privilege of experiencing the value of a Dexter Southfield education from many perspectives, including classroom teacher, coach, bus driver, enrichment camp coordinator, division head, and parent. While the School has grown and evolved tremendously during my time here, we remain committed to our original guiding principle: Dexter Southfield provides a student-centered environment, one where your children will thrive both individually and as part of a community. Dear Families, 

I love to walk the Dexter Southfield campus during the academic day. Walking around the School is the best way to see our community in action and experience the progression of our three divisions. In all areas of our program, our students learn to become leaders, lifelong learners, and engaged citizens who are prepared to achieve their personal best through every stage of life.

Today, I encourage you to go on your own “walk” of campus by exploring our website. Take a few minutes to hear from our dedicated faculty on our student-centered approach, learn about our academic partnerships with some of Boston’s most renowned institutions, celebrate the thrill of competition through our athletic teams, and browse the work of our talented students through online art galleries. You’ll learn more about the confidence built through our public speaking program and how our emphasis on foundational skills builds lifelong leadership characteristics. Through these pages, I am confident you will begin to discover what sets Dexter Southfield apart: there is a joy here that is palpable, an energy that is infectious, and a powerful sense of care, pride, and possibility.

As a result of our intentional focus on the student experience, your children will come to understand that they are capable of more than they may have ever imagined. Perhaps our approach to the student experience is best reflected in this phrase: “Our Best Today, Better Tomorrow.”  This is more than just our School’s motto; it is a concept embraced by every Dexter Southfield community member.
