Health & Wellness
Dexter Southfield acknowledges a strong link between a healthy child and an active learner. That is why we are committed to supporting your child’s physical, social, and emotional well-being as much as their academic success.
To foster the emotional health and well-being of the School community, our full-time school counselor is available to students in PreK-Class 12. She is a valuable resource for students, families, and faculty and works together with advisors, division heads, deans, the nurses, and academic support staff to facilitate an integrated plan for students who may need additional support. She can also facilitate a referral to outside resources if the need arises.
Dexter Southfield employs two full-time school nurses to support students in PreK-Class 12. Our nurses assess and treat ill and injured students, administer medications and other physician-ordered treatments to students, assist students with chronic disease management, and ensure that all health interventions performed for the benefit of students are conducted within current Massachusetts state laws and Department of Public Health regulations. Our nurses rely on regular two-way communication between the School and families to offer a holistic approach to their assessment and care of students.
Dexter Southfield’s athletic trainers are responsible for providing health care services designed to prevent injury and maintain the athlete’s ability to compete at the highest level. They work in collaboration with the School’s full-time strength and conditioning coach. For more information, learn about our Athletic Training program.
