SciTech Camp (Ages 8–12)

In a hands-on and stimulating co-ed STEM environment, SciTech campers explore all aspects of science and technology while working individually and in teams.

Weekly STEM challenges encourage groups of campers to solve a problem, build a structure to use in a Friday competition, and help recognize the scientific components of activities like Whodunnit mysteries or Escape Rooms.

The daily schedule is broken down into the following blocks:

Each week brings a different experience to SciTech! Take a look at each of our available weeks to see our themes so you can get a sense of what is in store for your camper.

Week 1: June 15 to June 18

Take Flight for Giant Kites
Get ready to soar as we dive into the wild world of GIANT KITES! This week at camp, science meets the sky as we learn to harness the power of wind, aerodynamics, and engineering to design, build, and launch kites bigger than you have ever seen before. From designing colorful tails to testing out the best kit design, get ready for a sky full of creations and a week of wild, whimsical, windy fun!

Please note: there is no camp on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Week 2: June 22 to June 26

Escape the Room
Are you brave? Do you have an ability to solve riddles and challenging puzzles? Then this week is just what you have been looking for. Campers will design and create "Escape the Rooms" with mechanical, electrical, and maybe even chemical challenges of skill and brains. At the end of the week, everyone will try to solve each room. Who will be able to beat the buzzer and escape?

Week 3: July 6 to July 10

Arcade Games
Who else loves going to the arcade? Ever wanted to build a life size arcade game? This week is for you! Campers will be challenged to build an arcade game as big as the Empire State Building if they wish. At the end of the week, all campers will have the opportunity to enjoy the games in our original game room. Who will break the Skee-Ball and Pac-Man high scores? Only one way to find out...

Week 4: July 13 to July 17

Olympics: Scare Games
Welcome to The Scare Games, where spooky meets spirited competition! Campers will join one of four hauntingly heroic teams to compete in a weeklong series of thrilling challenges and eerie events. From monster relays and ghostly obstacle courses to creepy-cool trivia and teamwork trials, every point counts as teams race for glory. Expect plenty of laughs, jump-scares, and spirited rivalry as campers show off their courage, creativity, and camp pride. The week will culminate in a frightfully fun awards ceremony celebrating all who dared to compete!

Week 5: July 20 to July 24

Clash of Kingdoms
Dukes and duchesses, people of all great regions, there is a great war commencing. You must defend your castle at all costs! Campers will be tasked with building a palace that will withstand the force of the all-mighty weapon: WATER BALLOONS. Which palace will stand the longest? What tactics will your kingdom use to defend your honor and destroy your enemies? Only one way to find out... at Friday's battle for the SciTech Camp throne!

Week 6: July 27 to July 31

C.S.I.
Whodunnit? We're gonna find out - gonna find out what the mystery's all about! Campers will partake in different interactive investigations using their best forensic skills (and a little improv). Join the lead detective at Dexter Southfield PD to determine who committed the crime. Collect evidence, analyze your findings, and maybe use a spy gadget or two to solve the mystery!

Week 7: August 3 to August 7

Science of Cinema
Campers become scientists and filmmakers as they explore the science behind movie magic — from the physics of stunts to the chemistry of special effects, and the biology of fear. Campers will learn different branches of science through the lens of cinema, culminating in a mini film festival where campers present short “science movie” projects or demonstrations.

Get Ready for Camp

Packing list

Helpful hints

Label all items that you send to camp!
Since we are spending time both inside and outside, please wear sneakers or close-toed shoes, not flip flops or sandals without a heel strap! This will keep campers safe and able to participate in all activities.
Please apply sunscreen before your camper arrives to camp in the morning and send in a labeled supply in your child's backpack so we can reapply throughout the day and after swimming.
Camp can be a messy place! We highly encourage you to send your child to camp in play clothes so they can confidently take part in all activities without worry that their nice clothes may come home messier than intended.
Our staff asks that your child arrive with a backpack or drawstring bag each day so we can help keep your camper organized as well as send home any projects.

Valuables

Though we do discourage bringing valuables to camp, but there are some legitimate exceptions to this camp rule. They are:

Magic cards may be brought at the owner’s risk for playing during recess and the hobbies period.
At times, campers in certain activities may be permitted to bring personal items such as drones and RC cars, computers, or musical instruments at the owner’s risk. Please only send these in if you are contacted by the camp on Monday afternoons.
Campers should not have phones, music players, or headphones.

Electives

Your camper will get the chance to choose some of their weekly activities before they arrive at camp!

Some of our 2025 options included the following: Cool Chemistry, Kitchen Chemistry, Minecraft AI, Maker Lab, Forensics, Rocketry, Roblox Game Design, Egg Drop, Lego Madness, Archery, Electronics, Marine Science, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Graphic Design, Quests and Costumes, Music Tech, Advanced Rocketry, Advanced Archery, and Advanced Coding!
