Building a Better Tomorrow
In March 2019, Dexter Southfield announced Building a Better Tomorrow, a $15-million project that will transform the campus and improve the student experience for all grades. Just three months after the announcement, Dexter Southfield broke ground on the project’s major component, a new lower school complex for PreK-Class 5.
Construction was completed in August 2020. In addition to the new Lower School Complex, classroom space under Fiske Hall was renovated and repurposed for the Upper School, allowing for important programmatic growth and expansion. The Middle School gained full access to the Midrise Building and the adjoining courtyard.
Thanks to the generosity of the Dexter Southfield community, more than $13.6M has been raised for this project. To learn more about the Building a Better Tomorrow project, please contact Rebecca Schultzberg.
This is an important moment in the history of our School. The Building a Better Tomorrow project will have a profound and immediate impact on Dexter Southfield’s lower school, enhancing our program in countless ways. I am particularly energized by the renewed sense of community resulting from this project, as the new Lower School complex will physically unify our students and teachers into a PreK-Class 5 neighborhood. We will now have the facilities to inspire new ways of learning, innovating, playing, thinking critically – and so much more. Dr. Marlena Alex
